Our MissionSalem Preschool is committed to providing a quality educational program which teaches and models Christ and Biblical truths in a loving Christian environment which provides a joy for learning and a positive self image.
Our Curriculum
Activities correspond with the attention span, developmental stage, and interests of the children. Concepts are presented in an interesting and fun manner, through puppet plays, art projects, stories, games, songs, finger plays, etc.
Salem Preschool emphasizes Christ centered learning. Biblical truths and traditional Christian values such as caring, sharing, loving, honesty, and acceptance are stressed throughout our curriculum as well as attitudes and behaviors such as Independence, creativity, responsibility, curiosity, self- esteem, etc.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION nurtures children's knowledge and understanding of God, Jesus, the Bible, the Church, themselves and others as children of God through Bible stories/verses, pictures, songs, and /or play activities.
ART ACTIVITIES include projects which develop imagination, individuality, and aesthetic appreciation. They also develop eye-hand coordination as well as fine motor skills.
LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT includes prayer time, discussions, "show and tell", word games, stories, books, an other experiences to increase communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT includes games, exercises, and activities (both indoor and outdoor) which increases physical skills and large muscle coordination as we develop a good self-concept as a child of God and a person of value.
SCIENCE included experiments ad observations to know the creative power of God and to feel the continuing presence of God as the students experience, explore, and enjoy the world in which the live.
CREATIVEFREEPLAY AND MOVEMENT implements the use of puppets, props, blocks, play dough, sand and water table, dramatics, and movement. This promotes social interaction as well as an appreciation and an understanding of God's love for all God has created.
MUSIC ACTIVITIES include Christian as well as secular songs, and musical instruments.
PRE-MATH SKILLS include the use of learning games, crafts, worksheets, stories, activities, and materials that provide a foundation for reading.
FIELD TRIPS (4 or 5 per year) are taken in connection with units being studied to reinforce concepts being taught.
SNACK TIME is provided to promote sharing, courtesy, good manners, and a thankful heart.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES Special parties, activities, and programs are offered throughout the year ( such as our Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas program, etc.) as students participate in Christian as well as secular celebrations.
3/4 Year Old Class Sessions
The 3/4 year old class is a two-day program designed for students who will be entering kindergarten in two years. It meets on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Both morning and afternoon sessions are offered. Morning classes meet from 8:45 to 11:00 a.m. Afternoon classes meet from 12:00 to 2:15 pm. Tuition for the 3/4 year old class is $963.00 per school year ( or $107.00 per month for nine months). In addition, there is a $55.00 registration fee which is due at the time of registration. This fee is NOT refundable and non-applicable. Also, there is an activity fee of $30.00 each semester. This activity fee is used to pay for special activities and projects, a t-shirt, all field trips for the student and one parent/guardian, and a memory book. To qualify for this two-day program, students must be age appropriate to enter kindergarten in their school district in two years (fall of the year 2012). Dolores Derbin is the Lead Teacher for this class.
4/5 Year Old Class Sessions
The 4/5 year old class is a three-day program designed for students who will be entering kindergarten in one year. It meets on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Both morning and afternoon session are offered. Morning classed meet from 8:45 to 11:00 am. Afternoon classes meet from 12:00 to 2:15 pm. Tuition for the 4/5 year old class is $1,089.00 per school year ( or $121.00 per month for nine months). In addition, there is a $55.00 registration fee which is due at the time of registration. This fee is NOT refundable and non-applicable. Also, there is an activity fee of $30.00 each semester. This activity fee is used to pay for special activities and projects, a t-shirt, all field trips for the student and one parent/guardian, and a memory book. To qualify for this three-day program, students must be age appropriate to enter kindergarten in their school district in one full year (fall of the year 2011). The Lead Teachers for this class are Lisa Capek and Kristin Roeder. Our 5/6 Pre-K Class
This 5/6 year old class is a four day program designed for students who are age appropriate for kindergarten but for a variety of reasons, parents have chosen to give their child and extra year of growth. This pre-k class will meet four days per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for 2 1/2 hours each session. Morning class meets from 8:45 to 11:15, and the afternoon class is from 12:00 to 2:30 pm. The cost for this program is $162.00 per month for 9 months ($1,458.00 for the school year). In addition, there is a $55.00 registration fee which is due at the time of registration. This fee is NOT refundable and non-applicable. Also, there is an activity fee of $30.00 each semester. This activity fee is used to pay for special activities and projects, a t-shirt, all field trips for the student and one parent/guardian, and a memory book. To qualify for this four day program, students must be age appropriate to enter kindergarten this year (2010) and have prior preschool experience. The Lead Teacher for the pre-k program is Mrs. C.
