New Salem United Methodist Church is now undergoing some major restoration of its original brickwork and stained glass windows, now over 100 years old!

The past several weeks have seen brick tuck-point work and the removal and replacement of the first window. This window, and 14 others, will be restored by Church Art Glass, of Clinton, KY.  Each window, once removed and taken to the factory in Kentucky, will be dissembled, painstakingly cleaned, and re-leaded with a special lead alloy.  Any broken or mismatched pieces will be replaced, and all joints will be re-soldered. The interior and exterior surfaces will be re-cemented to add strength and stability.  Once reinstalled into the newly repaired millwork, the restored windows will be encased in a protective Lexan covering to protect the windows for at least the next 100 years.
